Mahindra Percussion Festival – A Celebration of Rhythm
The Mahindra Percussion Festival was a powerful tribute to the art of rhythm, celebrating the legacy of Indian and global percussion. Held at the Prestige Centre for Performing Arts, this immersive experience paid homage to the legendary Ustad Zakir Hussain. The festival opened with Carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam leading the *Thrillana Project*, highlighting the rhythmic brilliance of the thillana form. The next evening featured *BeatRoute* by drummer Ranjit Barot and theatre director Roysten Abel — a pulsating fusion of Indian folk, electronica, and powerful drumming. Audiences were also treated to soul-stirring acts like *Crossing* by sitarist Ravi Chary, the dynamic *Trilok Gurtu Project*, and the Chennai-based duo *Snax* featuring Ramkumar Kanakarajan (aka Kanaxx) and mridangam artist Sumesh Narayanan. A rhythmic journey unlike any other.
